Meet in Xay District for registration, bicycle check, and a safety briefing before departure.
Depart from the meeting point and cycle to the trailhead. Enjoy a scenic cycling through the countryside passing rice fields, forests, and small local villages while enjoying the fresh morning air. (approx. 2-3 -hour cycling). Direct to Hla District about 28 Km, on the way, stopping at the first village Khmu ethnic group, Ban Houayxu and walking around the village 15 minutes. From here, continue to visit Samakixay village of Khmu, you also visit the local temple and walk around the village to learn about local agriculture and villagers’ livelihoods. Depart for PhonXay village – Khmu Ethnic Community to experience the local way of life, visit traditional houses, observe traditional clothing, and learn about local handicrafts, about their lifestyle, culture and language. After that cycling on travel to visit a local market Ban Houayla to experience the community’s interaction with friendly local residents and traditional way of life and also learn about local culture, and continue cycling toward Hla District, it is a small town, riding through peaceful natural landscapes. Arrive in Hla District and visit notable attractions, such as pay respects to the a sacred Buddha image, Prachaosingkham temple. Visit the Maung Hla market, and interact with friendly local residents. Participate in activities with local villagers. Enjoy a traditional Lao lunch at a local restaurant DoneMeeTuNa beside of the NamPak river bank. Relax with light refreshments. Say goodbye to the local communities and depart for the return journey. Arrive at the destination and end of the tour program.
If your visit coincides with local festival, you have a chance to participate in a Khmu New Year Festival, also known as BounGrer, is one of most important cultural celebrations of the Khmu people in Lao. It is held every year from January 01 to 10. During the festival, people wear traditional Khmu clothing and gather in their villages to take part in cultural activities.
